Cage / כלוב

פסל קינטי עשוי מענפים של עץ ומנורה התלוייה מהאמצע שכל הזמן מתנדנדת בעזרת מנגנון שמזיז אותה. כשהנורה מתנדנדת בתוך הפסל היא מייצרת כלוב של צללים שמתנדד בחלל. כשהצופה הולך בחלל גם הצל שלו נהיה חלק ואם הוא מסתכל סביבו הוא מבין שהוא לא מחוץ לכלוב אלא שגם הוא בתוכו. רציתי לייצר מצב שבו הפנים וחוץ מתמזגים, שבו אדם חושב שהוא מסתכל על נורה כלואה, אך מהר מאד מבין שגם הוא כלוא. היה לי חשוב שהנורה תתנדנד כדי שתהיה תחושה של אי-יציבות – כמו להמצא על סירה – החוויה היא מאד פיזית ויכולה ליצור תחושה קלה של סחרחורת. לעבודה יש סאונד של מים, מזח וסירות הנשמע בחלל מסביב. הפסל עצמו 145 ס״מ גובה אורך ורוחב והוצג לראשונה במרכז מעמותה לאמנות ומחקר שהיה בבית דניאלה פסל בעין כרם, ירושלים

A kinetic sculpture built out of wooden branches and a light in the middle swaying back and forth. When the light sways it creates moving shadows of the cage and when a viewer walks into the space his/her shadow becomes part of the cage shadows all around. I wanted to create a play between ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ – the person viewing may first think they are outside of the cage looking at a light that is caged, but very fast they find out that they too are caged. It was important for me that the light sway as I wanted to create a feeling of instability – just like when standing on a boat – the experience is very physical and may create a slight feeling of vertigo. In the space of the artwork there is sound of water, piers and boats all around. The cage is almost 5 ft (height, width and length) and was first shown at the Mamuta Art and Research Center that was in Ein Karem, Jerusalem.
